The Dream I Shared on the Walking Podcast

Jun 03, 2026 12:01 pm

Good morning !

This past weekend, I had the privilege of being a guest on a walking podcast.

As we walked and talked, the conversation turned to the future.

Not just the next project.

Not the next course.

Not even the next retreat.

But the bigger dream.

The dream behind all of it.

For years now, I have carried a vision in my heart.

A retreat center in the hills.

A place overlooking the sea.

A place where the noise of everyday life begins to soften.

A place where people can step away from their responsibilities long enough to hear themselves again.

I can see it clearly.

Sunrises over the mountains.

The sea stretching endlessly in the distance.

Walking trails.

Quiet corners for reflection.

Spaces for conversation, healing, laughter, tears, and transformation.

A place where people come carrying the weight of their stories and leave remembering who they are.

The older I get, the more I realize that healing requires more than information.

It requires environment.

It requires space.

It requires time.

And it requires community.

That dream is one of the reasons I continue to create retreats.

Each retreat feels like a small glimpse of what is possible.

A reminder that people do not heal in isolation.

They heal in connection.

They heal when they feel seen.

They heal when they are given permission to tell the truth.

That is the heart behind Soul Story Retreat.

It is the heart behind Healing Hearts Retreat.

And it is the heart behind a new retreat I am currently dreaming into being for women navigating menopause and the profound transitions that accompany it.

Lately, another idea has also been quietly taking shape.

A retreat exclusively for men.

A space where men can put down the burdens they have carried for years.

The expectations.

The silence.

The pressure to be strong at all costs.

The working title keeps coming back to me:

The Buried Man.

Because beneath so many layers of responsibility and survival, there is often a man waiting to be seen, heard, and understood.

Perhaps that retreat is still ahead.

But the dream is alive.

And every retreat we host brings us one step closer.

Sometimes people ask me why I keep creating.

Why I keep dreaming.

Why I continue building.

The answer is simple.

Because somewhere inside me, I believe that healing changes lives.

I've seen it happen.

I've watched people arrive carrying grief and leave carrying hope.

I've watched people reclaim their voices.

Their confidence.

Their stories.

And I believe there are still many more lives waiting to be touched.

So today, I wanted to share the dream with you.

Raw and unfinished

because dreams deserve witnesses.

And perhaps there is a dream in your own heart that is asking for your attention too.

Don't wait until everything is figured out.

Take the next step.

Dreams are built that way.

One small act of courage at a time.

With care,

Dr. Sandra Hamilton
