If one of your goals is building your network of writers and readers (it is a worthy goal, by the way) one of the ways you can do it is by reading at open mic nights. Uh oh. I just heard you groan. Really, it's a good thing and not as scary as you think. Writers are a really supportive bunch! Because everything was shut down during the pandemic, I knew there were writers in Delaware who were missing their monthly (or more) open-night fix. Do you ever feel like quitting? Ever feel like quitting? Ever feel like whatever you’re working on doesn’t matter and it would just be easier to throw in the towel and give up on your dreams? If so, this is for you. And for me. Because I feel like quitting—a lot. I often want to give up when the shiitake hits the fan and I can’t figure out technology, the internet doesn’t work, when my blood sugar drops and I get tired, when clients cancel (or there are slow weeks without many clients) or when people don’t show up to my (pre-covid) art shows, or when they do yet don’t buy anything… well, you get the idea, right? When things aren’t going the way that I think they ‘should’ I get a serious case of it-doesn’t-matter and want to quit. Yet, today, I’m not going to quit. Today I got out of bed at 0615 on a Sunday morning to sit down and create an acronym that you and I can both use when times get hard or challenging.
