Spanish - Español en otoño 🍂
Aug 11, 2026 6:01 pm
¡Hola, !
We pack away our summer holiday suitcase, but we open our Spanish notebooks with more enthusiasm than ever.
Autumn is nearly here, the season of harvest and change. We observe how trees drop their leaves to renew themselves, and for us it’s the perfect time to let go. So why not let go of fears and let your Spanish mature? It’s the ideal time to return to our routines and enjoy the process of learning and practising and having fun while doing it!
Don’t let 2026 slip away without harvesting new words, would you join me?
I look forward to seeing you soon and speak more español together.
Irma

We all start somewhere when we learn something new. Every step, no matter how small, means progress. Let me help you achieve your Spanish speaking dreams!

Phrase of the month: Hacer su agosto 🗓️
Meaning: To earn a lot of money through a business opportunity in a short period of time.
English equivalent: To make a fortune.
Example: Las heladerías hacen su agosto cuando hay olas de calor. (Ice-cream shops make a fortune during the heatwaves.)
Origins: Even though the month of August is used in the phrase, it refers to a saying farmers used in the past: a good harvest in August meant they could "make" their entire year's profit in just a few weeks. Nowadays it means to make a lot of money quickly taking advantage of a peak season.
