When we travel abroad we tend to travel by plane when we go far away, or because there are very good deals!

So when we get to the airport we need to get a few things ready so we can get to the plane, for example, get the boarding pass at the check-in desk (if printed) or  leave our luggage, passports and visas to go past the immigration point and security, until we finally get to the gate and board the plane.  These are compulsory things and we have a very useful expression in Spanish: ‘HAY QUE + verbo en infinitivo’ - ‘I/we have/need to …’

🧳  Hay que documentar/facturar el equipaje. - We need to check-in our luggage.

🛂  Hay que mostrar el pasaporte/la visa. - We must show our passport/visa.

🛄  Hay que pasar por el escáner. - One needs to pass the scanner.

🔢  Hay que abordar por la puerta A35. - Boarding is at gate A35.
