Hi, ,

I want to tell you about a question I keep asking myself.

Not on the dramatic days: the hard appointments, the crisis moments, the seasons that require everything I have. On the ordinary ones. The unremarkable Tuesdays when nothing notable happens and the hours just pass and I get to the end of the day and realize I cannot quite account for where I actually was inside any of it.

Am I inhabiting this? Or am I just getting through it?..

There is a difference. I think most of us know the difference. And I think most of us, most of the time, are doing more of the second thing than we would like to admit.

My newest essay is about that question. It's called "What It Means to Inhabit Your Life" and it's the piece I have been circling around since I named this publication, trying to find the right words for what I actually mean when I use that word. Inhabit. What it requires. What gets in the way. What the returning looks like when you have drifted into managing your life instead of living it.

It is not a productivity piece. It is not a how-to. It is the honest examination of what it means to be a full person inside a life that can very quietly consume every available corner of you if you let it — and what you do to stay a person anyway.

I think you'll find something in it.

And before you go, here is the soulwork prompt that lives at the heart of this essay. You don't have to read the full piece to sit with this one:

When was the last time you were genuinely present inside your life… NOT managing it, NOT orbiting above it, but actually IN it?.. What were you doing? What made that possible?

Reply and tell me if something comes to mind. Or even drop something in the Anonymous Share Box for me or Group Lounge for us all. I read every response and I love knowing what these questions surface for the women in this community.

I absolutely cherish the mail I get from each of you. As always, I read everything. Here is a message from someone who is quickly becoming a dear friend in which she inquires about choosing my Little Alchemies platform to share parts of her own special story. And I'm genuinely flattered by her idea. Is this idea something that anyone else might desire regarding building a true community and network from the little space that I have carved out for all of us here?.. Do let me know! My inbox, the Anonymous Share Box, and the Group Lounge are all as open as they will ever be.
