Put the Bowl Down

Hi ,

Last week I read something about beggars.

It said, if we watch a beggar for a while, we will notice what they become skilled at.

They learn quickly which faces give and which faces pass. Where to sit. When to smile. What tone opens wallets. They become experts in other people's moods; because they have to.

And then I thought, how often we do the same things too.

Not on the street.

In conversations.
In relationships.
In families.
In the way we word a message, when we really want to be received well.

We read the room before we finish a sentence.
We soften what we really want to say.
We choose the "safe" version of the truth.

It's human. Most of us learned early that full honesty can cost connection, so we get good at adjusting.

But when we're living like this, we are in our own ways, holding out our bowl too; for warmth, for approval, for safety...

And when we do this unconsciously, we don't only abandon ourselves, sometimes we quietly betray other people too.

Not with obvious lies, of course.

With omissions. With half-truths.

With leaving out the piece that would give them the full perspective, and a real choice. Because we're afraid of what they might decide to do, if they knew.

Usually it isn't malicious. It's protective.

It's our nervous system saying we might not be safe.

So we manage perception. We steer the outcome. We decide what others can handle.

But trust isn't built that way.

Trust is respect. It's letting someone else choose with the same information we have.

That's why a beggar's bowl never really satisfies.

Someone else's warmth, safety and approval feels good, but it never lasts.

It's like salt water, the more we drink, the thirstier we become.

So our system scans again. Adjusts again. Hides again.

If real peace is important to you, it doesn't live here.

Because peace is present, only when we stop bargaining with truth.

Peace is present, only when we put our bowl down.

That's why I'm so grateful to be part of the Global Peace Activation on 8/8, a global synchronised moment inviting people back to embodied peace.

This event will be hosted at the Native State building, Coolangatta from 3-6.30pm.

And it's also why my next in-person sound healing will be a Free Event, in conjunction with it.
